Jessica Damoth, P.A. > Suspended License

Driving while license is suspended

Suspended driver’s license can be a very big hassle in today’s mobile society. There are moving violations that can lead to having your driving privileges being revoked. The Department of Motor vehicles or court can temporarily withdraw your driving privilege. Driving while your license is suspended, (DWLS) is a serious traffic violation and can have major repercussions on your driving privilege. The following revoked or suspension groups are:

  • 12 points accumulated in 12 months = 30 day suspension
  • 18 points accumulated in 18 months = 3 month suspension
  • 24 points accumulated in 36 months = 1 year suspension
  • Driving under the influence (DUI) – driver has BAC of.08% or greater or refusal to take a chemical test
  • Habitual offenders – drivers who have had multiple and repeated offenses
  • Failure to appear in court (FTA) – failure to pay fine and failure to show up in court
  • Lack of Skill – mostly elderly or young drivers that lack good driving skills
  • Non-driving – Failure to pay child support

Depending on the severity of the traffic violation, you should contact Jessica Damoth P.A.
You can determine your driver’s license status by checking your driving record at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) by mail or visiting your local DMV office.

How do I find out how many points are on my Florida driving record?

Purchase a driving record. The record indicates the points and the details of the tickets, date of citations, where the citations were issued. Sanctions and points are based within a 12, 24, 36 month period.

Is my license suspended in all States?

National Driver Register (NDR) has information on drivers with revoked or suspended licenses, the database shares information with many states. The NDR database reports drivers who have been convicted of serious traffic violations. More than likely; if you have a suspended driver’s license in one state there is a good possibility it will be under suspension or even revoked in another state.

The (DLC) Driver License Compact is very similar to the National Driver Register (NDR). This database consists of non-residents who have license suspensions in states other than their home state.
